Ugh. Depressing. I blame the internet, which reduces topics down to their most base, shocking levels in. These young folks (I'm 47) are so used to having their thoughts given to them by the internet and are so conditioned to polarizing issues, they are unable to have genuine, informed discourse--or make genuine, informed protests for that matter. It's why I created a distinction between the school protests and the ones by Jeffrey Sachs and the Brooklynites, most of whom I'm confident have been tracking this region and situation for decades and appreciate its complexity.
