I love Colorado because I'm an athlete and outdoorsman, but with a few exceptions like downtown Boulder, the state is a sprawling mess, the kind I'd argue is the architecture of isolation. Lots of highways, tacky new subdivisions and rental mid-rises. And most mountain housing, with the possible exception of a couple ski towns, is super spread out, often in fire prone areas, and people usually require a 4x4 to get around.
