Lots to unpack Maarten. You clearly have far, far deeper Biblical knowledge than I do, so I won't (and can't) go through all of your points. What I am taking away is the ambiguous at best claim modern Israelis have on the former Kingdom of Judah--claims that others may have more claim to, claims that have been used to wrest control of lands beyond the historic Kingdom, etc.

The most interesting point to me was about the interruptions of God's promise, and it hints at what my next piece is about. Without a spiritual core, Israel is largely a Godless commercial outpost for western economic interests, despite its window dressing as something else.
