It's all connected. I believe the suburbs would be--and would have been in the past--intolerable without TV. But TV was like opium and social media and the internet are like fentanyl. At least with TV, people used to watch shows together, having a shared experience, even if wasn't exactly having dinner together. The internet creates a highly personalized universe to duck into that's often completely disconnected to what's going on or who's present in one's environment. It's why so many people get so worked up about shit that's happening around the world while their families and neighbors get thrown to the streets.
