It's all a system, and the part reflects the whole. Americans--and their global imitators--use too much space, consume too many product, eat too much (and poorly, at that), spent too much time online, etc.

In regards to your last statement, the main godhead Americans worship and have faith in is the God of More. I'm a big fan of Jesus, who was basically an impoverished political radical--a lover of the poor, weak, and marginalized. How his name and message has been co-opted for commercial and political purposes is, well, fucking disgusting in my opinion.
